KAPILVASTU, March 22: Police have arrested nine individuals in connection with the incident in Bargada of Maharajgunj Municipality, Kapilvastu, as of Saturday night.
Tensions escalated between two communities, leading to protests in several areas. Police intervened to bring the situation under control and detained nine people. Superintendent of Police Santosh Acharya said a total of 23 people were injured in the incident.

Among the injured, 11 are from Nepal Police, including an inspector and six are from the Armed Police Force. Six protesters were also injured, four of whom sustained bullet injuries. Four injured individuals are undergoing treatment at a medical college in Bhairahawa, one in Bharatpur, and another at Bahadurganj Hospital.
A curfew remains in place in Maharajgunj. Acting Chief District Officer Bhawishwor Ghimire said an all-party meeting is scheduled for Sunday at the District Administration Office to address the situation.
The clash reportedly began on Saturday morning after a dispute between members of the Muslim and Hindu communities. The disagreement arose during Eid prayers at a mosque, when loud devotional music was played at a nearby Kali temple, triggering tensions. Security has been tightened across Kapilvastu, and authorities have urged all sides to remain calm.
