Karnali highway blocked

JUMLA, June 22: Vehicular movement has come to a grinding halt along the Karnali highway obstructed due to landslides caused by heavy rains over the last several days. [break]



 According to District Police Office, around 53 road sections along the highway, including in Dailekh, Kalikot and Jumla have been blocked or damaged by flood and landslides. As a result hundreds of vehicles have been stranded. The Surkeht-Jumla Road Project has started cleaning the debris left by the flood and landslides, said Sher Bahadur Ghimire, chief of the road project. He said it would take a week for the project to clear the road completely.
