KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Jeevan Vigyan Foundation have signed an agreement to promote healthy lifestyles, yoga, meditation and wellness practices among citizens, according to a press release.
The agreement was signed at the National Assembly Hall on Friday in the presence of elected representatives, municipal officials and representatives of various social organizations. Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol signed the agreement on behalf of the metropolis, while Jeevan Vigyan Foundation Chairperson Devi Sharma signed on behalf of the foundation.

According to the press release, the two sides will jointly conduct programs on wellness, positive lifestyle practices, yoga, meditation and public awareness to promote a healthier society.
Speaking at the event, Dangol said the metropolis was focusing on disease prevention and health promotion rather than spending more on treatment after people fall ill. She said the initiative was aimed at all citizens and emphasized that adopting a healthy lifestyle was essential for achieving well-being.
The release quoted Ramesh Gurudev as saying that positive lifestyle practices and meditation were important for a healthy life. He said the collaboration could help develop Kathmandu not only as a cultural capital but also as a wellness capital.
The two sides will provide citizens with resources, expertise and awareness programs related to healthy living, yoga and meditation as part of the collaboration, according to the release.
