The August 26 flood destroyed Syafru Bazaar, the main gateway to Langtang, and swept away the bridge connecting to Syafru. With the main route disrupted, locals have opened an alternative trekking trail.

According to the rural municipality, the repaired route has made travel safer. The alternative two-day trek from Dhunche passes through Thulo Bharkhu, Sano Bharkhu, Brabal, Thulo Syafru, Pahiro, Bambo, Rimiche and Lama Hotel before reaching Langtang.
