KATHMANDU, March 11: The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a proposal put forward by Nepal to observe an International Day of Well-Being. The resolution was passed today, and the day will now be marked every year on April 15 across the world.

According to Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s permanent representative to the United Nations, the resolution defines health as more than the absence of illness. It states that health includes overall well-being in physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and environmental aspects.
Thapa said the proposal also highlights the need to promote preventive health care, healthy lifestyles, and inclusive health systems to build resilient and sustainable societies.
Expressing gratitude to the countries that supported the resolution, Ambassador Thapa described its adoption as an important diplomatic achievement for Nepal.
