KATHMANDU, May 16: A man killed two children with a sharp weapon and attempted suicide on Friday in Chitwan district.
Lila Raj Giri, 42, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-25, killed his nephew and his own daughter who were preparing to go to school in the morning. Following murder, he attempted suicide.

According to Govinda Puri, Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Giri attacked his own seven-year-old daughter Prabha Giri and his elder brother Daya Giri’s five-year-old son Sajan Giri with a sickle. After that, he used the same sickle to harm himself, Puri reported.
Immediately after the incident, all three were taken to Chitwan Medical College for treatment. However, the two children were pronounced dead, and Giri is in critical condition, according to Puri.
He also stated that Giri is a former soldier and is believed to have committed the act while suffering from mental instability. The incident occurred at around 9:45 this morning.
