KAPILVASTU, Aug 2: An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a woman seriously injured after a Mahindra Scorpio SUV collided with a motorcycle in Kapilvastu’s Shivaraj Municipality early Saturday.
The accident occurred in front of Alok Hotel in Ward 5 when a Scorpio (registration Lumbini Province 01-001 Cha 2054) struck a motorcycle (registration Lu 14 Pa 5190), according to the Kapilvastu District Traffic Police Office.

The motorcycle rider, Deepak Bik, 18, of Hallanagar, Shivaraj Municipality-2, sustained critical injuries and died while undergoing treatment at the Basic Health Service Hospital in Chandrauta.
The pillion rider, Shobha Shripali, 21, of the same locality, was seriously injured and is receiving treatment.
Police have taken the Scorpio driver into custody and launched an investigation into the incident.
