KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shashank Koirala has said that he or his brother Dr Shekhar Koirala will contest for the presidential post.
Speaking to journalists in the capital on Tuesday, Dr Koirala noted that the party needs at least three months to properly organize the convention. “Time is short. If it’s not possible in Poush, it will have to be held after the election,” he said.

Although the party has decided to hold the convention from January 10 to 12, Dr Koirala said it remains uncertain whether that timeline is achievable.
He emphasized that all members should nonetheless begin preparations for the convention, adding that it should be inclusive of the party’s younger generation as well.
On his potential candidacy, Dr Koirala remarked, “I had earlier said I would run for party president. Shekhar dai is also interested. Discussions are ongoing. One of us will contest.”
