KATHMANDU, May 9: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has extended the deadline for industrialists using electricity through dedicated and trunk lines without paying tariffs to file an administrative appeal.
The NEA has urged industries that have not paid their electricity tariffs to file an administrative appeal, granting them a deadline until the end of Jestha (mid-June).
NEA offers olive branch to defaulting industries

The NEA has announced that customers who used electricity through dedicated feeders and trunk lines from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075 (mid-January 2016 to mid-May 2018) and have outstanding electricity dues can submit an administrative appeal by the end of Jestha 2082 (mid-June 2025).
According to the NEA's notice, based on the decision of its Board of Directors dated May 3, 2024, these customers may file their appeal under Sub-regulation (1) of Regulation 55 of the Electricity Distribution Regulation 2078, by depositing an amount equal to 5 percent of the tariff amount or an equivalent 'A' class bank guarantee issued with a validity of one year.
The NEA's board meeting on April 11 had called on industrialists to file administrative appeals. However, the industrialists have been refusing to do so, arguing that the bills issued by the NEA are unsatisfactory and unjustified.
