The BSEB had threatened to stop the supply if NEA failed to pay the outstanding dues soon. Rokka said NEA cannot clear all the dues on its own and said it has sought a loan of Rs 1.5 billion from the government.
The NEA statement follows fears that the ongoing load-shedding could go up to 18 hours a day if the BSEB stops the supply.
