KATHMANDU, Sept 17: A special cultural festival will be held at Durbar Marg in Kathmandu on November 22 to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
The festival is being jointly organised by the Government of Nepal, the Embassy of Japan in Nepal and Kathmandu Metropolitan City. It will celebrate seven decades of friendship and cooperation between the two countries while promoting cultural exchange, solidarity and support for Nepal.

A major attraction of the event will be a performance by renowned Japanese band GODIEGO, which will return to Nepal more than four decades after its historic concert at Dasharath Stadium in 1980. The band’s return is expected to highlight the longstanding cultural ties between Nepal and Japan.
The festival will also feature performances by leading Nepali artists, along with cultural, tourism and commercial activities representing both countries.
According to the organisers, any surplus generated from the festival after covering necessary expenses will be donated to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
The event will also focus on tourism promotion, conveying the message that Nepal remains open and welcoming to visitors from Japan and other countries.
Through music, culture and people-to-people engagement, the festival aims to commemorate the historic relationship between Nepal and Japan while promoting friendship, resilience, tourism and shared responsibility.
