KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The government on Monday cleared the way for Nepali workers to be sent in Israel’s agriculture and home-based caregiving sectors under the bilateral labour framework.
A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar approved protocols sent by Israel, allowing Nepali agricultural students to work in the farm sector and enabling caregivers to take up long-term employment in private homes for up to five years. The approval paves the way for the formal signing of the protocols.

According to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, three protocols are now ready for implementation: a revised caregiver programme for elderly care centres, a new agriculture employment pathway, and home-based caregiving jobs.
Recruitment will be carried out through government-to-government mechanisms.
Over 3,000 Nepali youths have previously gone to Israel under agricultural training programmes such as “Learn and Earn.” Officials said the expanded arrangements aim to ensure safe, transparent and regulated labour migration.
