Nepal showcases tourism and cultural attractions at UAE’s national festival of tolerance

The festival, inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, carries the theme “Hand in Hand” and celebrates tolerance and coexistence annually. Sheikh Nahyan personally visited the Nepal stall and received information from Ambassador Tej Bahadur Chhetri. Diplomats, officials, tourism professionals, students and Nepalese well-wishers also toured the stall, the statement noted.

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Marking the International Day of Tolerance 2025, the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi participated for the first time in the National Festival of Tolerance, held at Um Al Emarat Park from November 14–16. Nepal featured its Tourism Booth, highlighting tourism and cultural diplomacy, the Embassy of Nepal in UAE said in a press statement.

On November 15, Nepal presented a cultural program featuring group dances and tableaux by the Nepal Indigenous National Federation, showcasing ethnic and regional traditions. The stall displayed handicrafts, sculptures, tourist posters, and traditional items, while the Newar community performed the famous Lakhe dance. Interactive activities, including drawing, coloring, and quizzes on Nepal–UAE relations, engaged children and families, with winners receiving promotional gifts from the Embassy and Nepal Tourism Board, the organizer added.


Nepal’s participation drew significant interest and praise, strengthening cultural diplomatic ties with the UAE and enhancing Nepal’s international image. The three-day festival also featured stalls from diplomatic missions across Asia, Europe, and Africa, along with international schools, cultural groups, and art exhibitions. Programs included Global Heritage Showcases, music, and entertainment, attracting hundreds of visitors daily, according to the Embassy.


The embassy expressed gratitude to the UAE government, embassy staff, Nepali community, Indigenous National Federation, Newar community, media and volunteers for contributing to the festival’s success.
