KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Nepathya is set to perform in Dubai on October 4, marking the band’s fourth concert in the UAE city.
The concert will be held at The Agenda hall in Dubai Internet City. Unlike its previous three concerts at Al Nasr Leisureland, Nepathya has chosen a new venue with better facilities for this performance.
More than 700,000 Nepalis live in the UAE, according to a recent study. With Dashain approaching, the band said the concert aims to bring a taste of home to Nepalis living away from their families.
Nepathya to perform in western Australia
Nepalaya, which manages the band, said the venue was selected to offer a more sophisticated experience to Nepali audiences. “We have paid attention to both the venue and various aspects of the performance to enhance the experience of audiences in Dubai,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya.
Nepathya first performed in Dubai in 2015, shortly after Nepal’s devastating earthquake. The band donated proceeds from that concert to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. It returned to Dubai in 2022 for its first international tour after the Covid pandemic.
The band has also received support from Nepalis in the UAE during times of crisis. Nepalis there recently raised significant assistance for victims of the Bhotekoshi floods.
Lead singer Amrit Gurung said the band has prepared a selection of lively songs for the Dubai audience. “Fun songs that will make the audience dance and sing along have been given priority this time,” he said.
Organizer Anil Lamichhane said an international-standard hall and improved sound system had been arranged for the concert.
Nepathya’s previous Dubai concerts also drew Nepali audiences from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Organizers expect a larger turnout this time.
Amrit will be accompanied by Dhurba Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Bahadur Rayamajhi on madal and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboard.
Tickets can be purchased online through Nepathya’s website.
