KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nepali Congress President (NC) Gagan Thapa has said there are no panels or factions in the election being held for the party’s Central Working Committee under its 15th General Convention.
In a social media post Friday morning, Thapa said voting for the Central Working Committee had begun. He also urged convention delegates not to interpret lists of candidates being circulated with his name attached as carrying his official endorsement or recommendation.

Thapa said the election, originally scheduled for Thursday, had been delayed by a day due to technical reasons. He apologized to convention delegates for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
He called on all delegates to participate in what he described as an important democratic exercise in a dignified, restrained and enthusiastic manner.
“I have seen and heard that lists of various candidates are being circulated by linking them with my name,” Thapa said. “I want to make this clear: this is a healthy internal democratic process within the party. This time, there is no panel or faction.”
Thapa urged delegates not to be influenced or confused by such claims and to cast their votes based on their own judgment, assessment and trust, while keeping the party’s broader interests in mind.
He also expressed confidence that the informed decisions of convention delegates would help take the party organization to a new level.
