NT scraps STD service on fixed line, CDMA phones

KATHMANDU, July 12: Fixed line and CDMA customers of Nepal Telecom from Sunday can make inter-district calls on mobile phones without subscribing to STD facility.



According to a statement issued by NT on Thursday, landline and CDMA phone users need not subscribe to STD facility to place calls on mobile phones throughout the country. [break]



"This is a cost-cutting measure," reads the release. According to the release, it costs Rs 1 per minute to call from landline to a mobile except tax.
