KATHMANDU, May 22: Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) has slapped a two-month suspension on taekwondo player Deepak Bista, who is currently in Thailand for the treatment of his injured knee.

In addition, NTA has also relieved Bista from the duty of secretary of the Players´ Protection Committee. NTA took the decision following Saturday´s meeting. [break]

NTA had taken action against Bista on March 23 for attending the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) meeting as chef-de-mission without informing NTA. The decision to take action against Bista was taken a day after he left for Singapore to attend the meeting but was implemented from Saturday.

An investigation committee formed under NTA Treasurer Raviraj Singh had submitted a report on April 12 that found Bista guilty.

The meeting also warned Bista not to repeat such mistakes. NTA stated that it took action against Bista as he had accepted Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC)´s proposal to become chef-de-mission at a time when NTA was agitating against NOC.
