JUMLA, Oct 4: The number of businesses shutting down in Jumla has been increasing in recent years, while new registrations have continued to decline.
According to Tank Prasad Neupane, chief of the Industry and Consumer Interest Protection Office, 180 industries were closed in fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83 BS), while 188 new industries were registered and 334 renewed their registrations.
In the commerce category, 61 businesses were registered during the fiscal year, while 58 renewed their registrations and 52 were closed. Neupane said the office collected about Rs 1.625 million in revenue under various headings during the year.
Jumla remains disconnected from province capital
By the end of Bhadra in the current fiscal year, 43 new industries had been registered, while 119 had renewed their registrations and five had shut down. Another 11 businesses were registered under the commerce category.
The office said the number of new industry registrations in the district has been declining, while closures have been rising.
According to the office, this trend has continued for the past four years, with fewer industries registering each year and more businesses shutting down.
Industries registered in the district include those involved in manufacturing, agriculture and forestry, services, tourism, construction, and information and communication technology.
