Police allege that Dem Bahadur Gurung, of Dikura VDC-7, mistakenly shot and killed Keshav Bahadur Magar, 18, of the same place last Friday. Magar died shortly after from the bullet wounds. Gurung had gone into hiding after the incident and was arrested on Saturday evening.According to the police, Gurung had been holed up in the house of his elder sister in Jaluke VDC-1. "We were able to arrest him within 24 hours through our relentless efforts," said DSP Nawa Ratna Poudel, chief of the DPO. DSP Poudel informed that they are planning to charge Gurung with murder and for possessing illegal weapon. "We are investigating whether the weapon he was carrying was licensed or not."
"Although Gurung has claimed that the killing was accidental, it will be determined by investigations," said Superintendent of Police (SP) Sujan Kumar Rajbhandari.
