One arrested in Rautahat for alleged attempt to vote in another person’s name

RAUTAHAT, March 5: A man has been arrested in Rautahat on charges of attempting to cast a vote in another person’s name.



The arrested person has been identified as 18-year-old Arje Hayat from a settlement in Rajpur Municipality-9, Bairiya.

The dispute started at the Bairiya Orphanage polling station after he allegedly attempted to cast a vote in the name of Mahamad Asik. Following the dispute, police took Hayat into custody, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishnu Pradip Basyal of the District Police Office, Rautahat.


“We have not yet confirmed whether he actually attempted to vote in someone else’s name. Investigation into the incident is ongoing,” DSP Basyal said.
