Taking part in Saturday’s House meeting, the lawmakers of the ruling parties seconded the policies saying it was scientific and close to practical, while lawmakers of opposition parties criticized saying it was regressive.
The lawmakers of the ruling parties said that the policy and program has forwarded a plan to hold the local bodies' elections as well as plan for agro and green revolution.
Sitaram Bhandari and Prakash Sharma Poudel of the Nepali Congress expressed the view that the policies has incorporated a plan to make arrangement of a doctor in every health post and increasing social allowance of senior citizens.
However, Binda Devi Ale of the same party, complained that the policy and program presented by the government failed to bring any plan to uplift the women and incorporate different program of health, education and employment.
Tapta Bahadur Bista and Rita Shahi of the NC demanded to establish university to carry out researches and study on herbs in Karnali zone.
Similarly, Brijesh Kumar Yadav of the Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party said the policies could not incorporate the sentiments of people, no new program in favor of industrialists and failed to give emphasis to the development of agro sector.
Likewise, lawmaker of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Jayanta Chand stressed the need of allocating the budget giving the agriculture, tourism and hydropower in top priority.
Also taking part in the meeting, Birendra Mahato of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal claimed that the policy was only functional.
Likewise, Narsingh Chaudhary of the Sadbhawana Party vented his ire saying the policies failed to give attention towards poverty alleviation, for the upliftment of industry and among others.
CPN-ML lawmaker CP Mainali commented the policy and program of the government as it was not clear in the agenda of providing reliefs to the quake survivors.
Similarly, Rastritya Janamorcha Nepal lawmaker Chitra Bahadur KC said that the government's policy and program were evaluated not on the basis of merit and demerit but on the basis of who have participated in the government.
He further said that policies and program were not clear in relief operations and resettlement operations as the flood victims of the Jure are yet to get reliefs.
UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Surendra Karki said that the government's policy and program failed to address the basic needs of the people. He added that there was no newness in poverty alleviation, sustaining the peace and stability among others. RSS
