KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Passengers have started queuing at ticket counters at Kathmandu's New Bus Park after advance booking for festival travel opened on Thursday.
Crowds gathered to secure tickets for both long- and short-distance bus services operating across the country.

Punya Prasad Sitaula, president of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, said advance booking had opened for public vehicles serving both long and short routes.
Meanwhile, Shankar Shrestha, chief of the New Bus Park Police Sector, said security had been tightened at the bus park and other areas to prevent untoward incidents during the festival period. Plainclothes police personnel have also been deployed.
The Department of Transport Management, Nepal Police, transport entrepreneurs and transport workers had agreed on Tuesday to open advance ticket booking for festival travel.
