KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary and former Health Minister Pradip Paudel has expressed happiness over the increased business and medicine production capacity of Singha Durbar Vaidyakhana.

He thanked Prime Minister Balendra Shah for his commitment to expand the state-run Ayurvedic medicine producer’s range to 150 products and make Nepal self-reliant in the production of 35 essential medicines provided free of cost. Prime Minister Shah had earlier posted on social media, claiming that Vaidyakhana and several other industries were showing positive results.
Responding to the post, Paudel wrote that he was pleased to see the institution gaining momentum in line with policies and plans expanded during his tenure as health minister.
“It is encouraging to see this institution moving forward based on the policies and plans we expanded when we were in the Ministry of Health. To build a ‘Healthy Nepal’, Ayurveda must be brought into the mainstream of the health system,” he wrote.
Paudel also recalled that the previous government had formulated a 10-year National Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine Strategy with the goal of reducing the rate of non-communicable diseases in Nepal by 30 percent and increasing the Ayurveda workforce.
He said that building a prosperous nation is possible only when good policies are given continuity. “We will always extend constructive support to every positive step taken by the Nepal government for the development of the Ayurveda sector,” Paudel said
