KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Prime Minister Balendra Shah and his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon held a telephone conversation on Thursday, discussing Nepal’s ongoing search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following the Bhotekoshi flood.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Shah said the government has intensified search and rescue operations, with the search for missing foreign nationals, including New Zealand citizens, being given high priority, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Shah expressed gratitude to Luxon for New Zealand’s humanitarian assistance of around NZD 2 million.
Highlighting Nepal’s vulnerability to climate-induced disasters, Shah expressed hope that New Zealand would play a constructive role in international forums in securing financial assistance for climate-induced loss and damage.
Luxon expressed sorrow over the difficult circumstances faced by Nepal and conveyed condolences and solidarity on behalf of the government and people of New Zealand, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
