Pumped-up Nepal braced for Namibian challenge

KATHMANDU, July 11: Nepal is playing against Namibia in its second match of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier on Saturday.

Perked up by six wickets win over America in the opener, Nepali cricket team will face the African country at Belfast, Northern Ireland.


Skipper Paras Khadka is a strongman of the team that defeated USA with blitzing performances by Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla and spinners.

In T20 Internationals, captain Khadka has a batting average of 36.11 runs.

Namibia also needs to defend them from all-round performance of Shakti Gauchhan and attacking batting by Sharad Veshwakar. Anil Mandal and Binod Bhandari are in good form, of late can be headache for Namibia.

Nepal needs to improve batting to pile pressure on the team with status of Division 1.   

Namibia, which has already faced defeat against Ireland, will be pinning hope on Captain Nicolaas Scholtz. He holds batting average of 41 runs in T20.

It is for the first time the teams will be facing each other in T20 format.



Few months ago, Nepal had defeated Namibia by three wickets in it home ground in match of Division 2.   Namibia won the tournament and got elevated to Division 1.
