KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has urged the public not to panic over the possibility of rain in some parts of the country starting next Tuesday.

Responding to rumors circulating on social media, meteorologist Rajan Maharjan of the Meteorological Forecasting Division clarified that although rain is possible in some parts of the country, there is no need to panic.

“There is a possibility of rain next Tuesday. However, it is not certain where it will rain, how much rainfall there will be, or how long it will last,” he said.

“Reports circulating on social media about a week of rain are particularly worrying farmers. Weather systems are variable, so everyone is urged not to believe rumors or panic,” Maharjan added.

According to Maharjan, weather forecasts in Nepal are relatively accurate for up to three days but become less reliable for a week-long period.

“We will provide information about the possibility of rainfall next week in a few days. The public is urged to rely only on the department's official weather updates,” he said.
