KATHMANDU, June 20: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to introduce electronic voting in its upcoming general convention, allowing delegates to cast their votes by simply tapping candidates’ names and photos on digital devices.
According to Chief of the RSP Central Election Commission Bhuwan KC, the system will enable voters to select candidates directly from an on-screen interface using electronic devices.
He said the first phase of voting is expected to take around six hours, during which delegates will vote for the party chairperson and 99 central committee members.

KC said the second phase will elect office-bearers, including the vice-president, general secretary and joint general secretaries, from among the elected central members.
He said the nomination process will begin at 2 pm on June 22, with the first phase of voting scheduled for the same evening. The first phase will conclude by the night of June 22, while the second phase of voting will take place on June 23.
Only office-bearer positions will be elected in the second phase.
Around 3,000 delegates are expected to participate in the convention.
For delegates unable to attend from abroad, the party will facilitate voting through its own mobile application. Out of 170 overseas delegates, those unable to travel will be able to vote via the app.
The RSP Election Commission comprises a chief and 10 members. Although members of the commission are not allowed to contest elections, they are permitted to vote. Chief KC said the commission will remain neutral by not casting votes in the election.
