KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced a nationwide campaign to visit local units across the country from October 6, ahead of the local-level elections.
The party said the campaign will not be limited to election preparations, but will also be used to engage with citizens on the government’s work, policy initiatives and plans for the future over nearly six months since it came to power.
RSP lawmakers and central committee members will visit all 753 local units across 77 districts, according to the party. The campaign will focus on hearing local concerns and expectations and informing citizens about work carried out by the government and Parliament.

RSP Co-General Secretary Nisha Dangi said the campaign would prioritize not only listening to citizens but also presenting the party’s views on its work and future plans.
Another key focus of the campaign will be the party’s process for selecting candidates for the upcoming local-level elections. The RSP said it would inform citizens about how capable individuals willing to take leadership roles will be selected for local positions.
Under its previously announced candidate-selection framework, the RSP plans to advance candidates through mechanisms including the “Candidate Club,” “Leadership Academy” and a democratic selection process.
The party said the upcoming campaign will therefore combine preparations for the local elections, including organizational and candidate selection efforts, with efforts to inform citizens about the government’s work since it assumed office.
As the local-level elections approach, the RSP plans to take information about the federal government’s work to local communities and explain its process for selecting local leaders.
