Switzerland’s Senior Policy Advisor calls on Minister Dr Timilsina

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Senior Policy Advisor at the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM), Isabelle Lois, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina.



During the meeting held today, they discussed the matters of expanding cooperation and collaboration in the area of information and technology.


Extending gratitude towards the support of Switzerland at different sectors, Minister Dr Timilsina mentioned that Nepal has been prioritizing digital transformation and an environment conducive to bring in investment in this sector has been built.

On the occasion, Senior Policy Advisor Lois extended an invitation for Nepal's participation in 'AI Global Summit 2027, to be organised in Switzerland from June 21 and 22, 2027.


She also enquired about priorities of Nepal and concerned stakeholders in the summit. 


Similarly, they also discussed Nepal's potential participation in 'Freedom Online Coalition' and its role as an observer. 


The coalition, which currently comprises 42 member states, has been collaborating to advance internet freedom and freedom of expression, privacy and online rights.
