Transfers of 1808 civil servants to be reviewed

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Acting on the recommendation by a panel, the government has decided to review the transfers last February of nearly two thousand civil servants. A meeting of the cabinet on Monday took a decision to this effect.



“The cabinet meeting decided to review all the transfers as per the recommendation of the probe committee,” said Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi after a cabinet meeting on Monday evening. [break]



The Ministry of General Administration (MoGA) had transferred 1,808 civil servants on February 16, but the transfers sparked controversies after organizations of civil servants protested the decision.



Meanwhile, Monday´s cabinet meeting has transferred the Secretary at MoGA Tilakram Sharma to the Mid Regional Administration Office, Hetauda. Sharma would be replaced by Dharnidhar Khatiwada of the Mid Regional Administration Office, Hetauda.



Similarly, the government has promoted Sanjay Thapa Magar of the Nepal Army to the rank of colonel. The cabinet meeting accepted resignation of Chairman of Nepal Television Balram Timilisena.
