MANANG, Sept 27: Two bodies have been recovered from the base camp area of Mt Himlung after an avalanche struck the mountain in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality in Manang.

A team preparing the route and camps for foreign climbers attempting to scale the 7,126-metre Mt Himlung in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5, Phu, was caught in the avalanche.
According to Milan Saru Magar, chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, the team was caught in the avalanche at the base camp, located at an altitude of around 5,000 metres above sea level.
A total of 28 Nepali support staff had reached the area in two groups to make preparations for the expedition of foreign climbers.
