Two held for murdering octogenarian

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku Kathmandu has arrested two men on the charge of murdering an octogenarian from Bouddha.

A police squad deployed from Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku arrested Lal Bahadur Bk, 36, and Amar Bk, 40, of Solukhumbu district, currently staying in Gokarna, Kathmandu, for their alleged involvement in slaying 85-year-old Nima Dorje Sherpa of Bouddha.


According to the affidavit given by the accused, both of them, brother-in-laws by relation, went to Sherpa's house on November 11 for the remuneration for the house painting Lal Bahadur had done.

Sherpa had been denying Lal Bahadur his remuneration saying that the painting was not done in line with the agreement. Quarrel among them took a nasty turn when Amar took a knife from Sherpa's house and hacked him to death in fury.

According to police, Sherpa died on the spot. The duo then got inside Sherpa's house rummaged cupboards for cash and valuables. When they did not get them they decamped with a garland of Buddhachitta worth around Rs 2 to 3 lakhs.

Police had been launching a manhunt to nab them since the incident was reported to the police.
