KATHMANDU, Aug 23: A two-year-old girl was found dead near her home in Shambhunath Municipality-3, Saptari, on Sunday morning.
According to Saptari District Police Office chief SP Rupak Khadka, the girl was found dead in a bush behind her house at around 10:45 a.m.
Police said the girl had been at home until around 8:45 a.m. When she could not be found afterward, family members began searching for her and discovered her body in the bush behind the house.
Police reached the scene and have launched an investigation. SP Khadka said initial findings suggested the incident could be a homicide. One person has been taken into custody for investigation.
Meanwhile, a two-year-old girl who had been missing since Saturday evening in Bara was found safe on Sunday morning.

Bindi Mandal, daughter of Mukesh Mandal of Kattiparsa in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-1, was found in Sisawa Maheshpur of Kalaiya-26.
Police said the girl was in normal condition and that further investigation into the incident was underway.
