KATHMANDU, March 2: Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, has said the country is taking all necessary measures to safeguard its population following recent missile and drone attacks by Iran.

In an interview with CNN, she stated that the UAE successfully intercepted more than 137 ballistic missiles and over 200 drones using what she described as one of the world’s most advanced air defence systems. She assured residents that the country remains secure, citing robust infrastructure and high levels of preparedness.

According to her, debris from intercepted missiles caused limited damage in areas including Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and Jebel Ali Port, resulting in two fatalities and several injuries.

Al Hashimy emphasised that while the UAE supports dialogue and diplomacy, it is fully prepared to defend itself. “The door for diplomacy never closes,” she said, urging Iran to opt for peaceful engagement.
