UCPN(M) urges Bhattarai to rethink his decision

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) on Sunday has urged Baburam Bhattarai to rethink on his decision to quit the party on Sunday.

The meeting held at party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's personal residence at Lazimpat this morning took the decision to this effect.

On Saturday, amidst a press conference held in Capital, UCPN (M) senior leader and former Prime Minister Bhattarai had announced of quitting the party.

"Bhattarai's abrupt decision to disassociate with the party has made us serious," said Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the party senior leader of the party after the meeting, adding, and "we have decided to urge to rethink his decision'.

Leaders close to Bhattarai--Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Devendra Paudel—were also present during the SC meeting.

Meanwhile, the central committee meeting which was scheduled to be held at 11 am today has been deferred till 2 pm this afternoon.
