KATHMANDU, Sept 15: UK-based Nepali entrepreneur and MBE recipient Sujan Katuwal has presented funds raised through his Nepal Flood Emergency Appeal to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle for flood relief and recovery efforts in Nepal.
Katuwal, founder of PANAS Gurkha Restaurant and Panas Helping Hands in Blackheath, London, traveled to Nepal following the devastating floods and formally handed over the funds raised with support from customers and the wider community.
He is also scheduled to visit flood-affected areas to meet affected communities, assess their needs and explore opportunities for longer-term support.

“Compassion must be accompanied by action. I want to be present, listen to the affected communities and understand how we can help them recover and rebuild,” Katuwal said.
Katuwal and his PANAS team had provided more than 250,000 free meals to NHS workers, Gurkha veterans, homeless people and others in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The team continues to provide hot Gurkha meals to homeless people in London every Tuesday.
His contribution to community service was recognised with an MBE, which was presented by Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, in January 2026.
Following the floods in Nepal, Katuwal also organised a candlelight vigil at PANAS Restaurant in Blackheath, which was attended by Dame Joanna Lumley, civic representatives and members of the Nepalese, Gurkha and local communities.
