Upper Myagdi-1 hydropower project achieves tunnel breakthrough

The project, promoted by Myagdi Hydropower Limited, has connected the tunnel from the adit site in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, Chhahari to the under-construction powerhouse in Malika Rural Municipality-7, Bharwang, on Wednesday.

MYAGDI, Sept 10: The Upper Myagdi-1 Hydropower Project with a capacity of 35.5 MW has achieved a tunnel 'breakthrough' (excavated) from the adit towards the dam. 



The project, promoted by Myagdi Hydropower Limited, has connected the tunnel from the adit site in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, Chhahari to the under-construction powerhouse in Malika Rural Municipality-7, Bharwang, on Wednesday.

Project Chief Jyoti Kumar KC informed that a 2506.39-meter tunnel connecting the adit site to the dam has been broken through. 


"Out of the total 3,283.32 meters of the tunnel from the audit in Chhahari to the dam in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, 1,973 meters have been completed so far," he shared. 


KC further said, "Work is underway intending to complete the remaining tunnel within a few months." 


Chief KC mentioned that overall progress has reached 56 percent and the project is expected to be completed within the next year.
