KATHMANDU, July 14: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi on Tuesday accused Home Minister Sudan Gurung of exploiting the Gen Z movement and students for political gains, alleging that he reached power through such activities.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives, Shahi said asking the government to rescue people stranded on cliffs was not politicalization.

"When we ask why people were forced to die because they could not be rescued on time from the cliffs of Karnali, and why helicopters were not sent promptly, the home minister calls it politicalization," Shahi said. "The real politicalization is claiming to have gone to distribute water during the Gen Z movement, using uniformed students as shields, and climbing the stairs of power over the bodies of the dead."
Shahi also criticized leaders who, while in opposition, demanded the removal of politicians' salaries but, after assuming office, moved around with large security entourages.
"Having your own cadres park vehicles in front of opposition leaders' homes and media offices, then recording videos and portraying it as the actions of ordinary citizens, is what politicalization means," he said.
Accusing the government of showing arrogance when asked to rescue people stranded on Karnali's cliffs, Shahi said, "Standing at the parliamentary podium later, pretending to cry and putting on a drama is what politicalization means."
