According to Nepali Congress Chief Whip in the parliament, Laxman Ghimire, business advisory committee suggested the House speaker to postpone the meeting following request by Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). Maoist leaders in the House demanded some time to carry out homework on how to address the demands raised by ruling Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and main opposition Nepali Congress, among others.
"The meeting was put off till Tuesday as Maoist leaders said they want more time for addressing issues raised by Nepali Congress (NC) and others," said Ghimire.
Earlier on March 31, the House was adjourned without entering formal agenda after ruling and opposition lawmakers demanded settlement of certain issues first. The March 31 session saw ruling and opposition parties joining hands in criticizing the ruling Maoists for failing to implement past commitments on the return of seized property and improving law and order situation among other things.
Ruling CPN-UML demanded immediate arrest and action against the Maoist cadre involved in killing of Youth Force leader Prachanda Thaiba in Butwal.
