KATHMANDU, Aug 20: K L Tower and Multiplex - a new mall cum cinema complex in Kathmandu - is throwing its doors open in November. Promoters of the Chuchepati-based mall are hopeful that it will be a complete destination for people of all class and age groups.

“Earlier, we had planned to open the mall in mid-April. But it did not materialize due to some technical reasons,” Ganesh Dhungana, general manager of K L Tower and Multiplex, said, adding: “Now we will open in November.”[break]

According to Dhungana, the exterior of the building is ready and few interior construction works are remaining. All the spaces in the mall have already been booked.

The 10.5-storey tower, which is spread over 6 ropanis (0.75 acres), will have a view tower and a revolving restaurant in the top floor. The top floor offers beautiful views of city and mountains along with Word Heritage sites like Bouddhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. It also offers magnificent views of Kapan Monastery and Gokarna Golf Course among others.

“The two will have various attractions like an ATM lounge, departmental store, video parlor, coffee bar, food court, gaming zone, international standard multiplex and 6D or 8D theater, meeting hall and conference hall,” said Dhungana.

To make it easy for shoppers, the mall is managed in such a way that every floor is specialized for certain items. The ground floor will have international branded showrooms for perfumes, cosmetics and a department store and the first floor will have stores for mobile phones and electronics.

Likewise, the second floor will have stores dealing on camera, computer, laptops, sportswear and shoes, and a bank. The third floor will have stores of readymade garments and fashion wears for kids and ladies.

“We have gaming zone for kids as well as adults and a beauty parlor in the fifth floor and a food court and multi sensory 6D or 8D theater in the fifth court,” Dhungana said, adding, “We have Cinema City - a three-screen international standard cinema - on sixth to eighth floor, meeting hall in the seventh floor, and revolving restaurant and a view tower in the top floor.”

The mall will have a double basement parking capable of accommodating around 100 four-wheelers and 400 two-wheelers.
