KATHMANDU, April 29: Nepali Congress MP Ram Hari Khatiwada, a member of the ruling coalition, has demanded the immediate appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
On Tuesday, during a session of the House of Representatives, he called for the immediate formation of a recommendation committee to appoint the Governor.
“During the budget session, when evaluating the monetary and fiscal policies, the absence of the Governor has created a situation where the impact on the economy cannot be properly explained,” he said, “The government should immediately form a recommendation committee and appoint the Governor.”
The position of the NRB Governor has been vacant since April 6. The recommendation committee, which was formed more than a month ago to recommend a name for the Governor, has not yet held a single meeting. One of the committee members resigned a week ago.
