"It is not for the single or division bench of the Supreme Court to direct the Constituent Assembly on writing the new constitution. The Constituent Assembly can carry out the task independently and no other body can direct it in this connection," Oli told reporters at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) on Tuesday upon his arrival from Thailand, where he had gone for his regular health check up.He was reacting to the SC ruling that ordered the government, the CA and concerned political parties not to promulgate new constitution without finalizing the delineation and the names of the to-be-demarcated provinces.
Oli reasoned that the CA is accountable only to the sovereign people and the CA, which comprises of representatives elected by the people, can take independent decisions.
"I want to make it clear to one and all that the constitution making will not get derailed because of any reasons such issues," said Oli.
He also claimed that the CA shouldn't be guided by the existing Interim Constitution-2007.
