Police nab Smart Cells engineer for operating VOIP

KATHMANDU, March 13:  The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal has arrested an engineer affiliated to Smart Cells for operating Voice over Internet Protocol  (VOIP) or call bypass mechanism, an illegal activity that siphons off telecom revenue to the racketeers.
 A team of CIB known as Operation Voice Fox arrested electric engineer Pradip Shreastha, 33, on Thursday.

He was detained from his Naradevi-based house of Kathmandu-18. Shrestha has been operating illegal business of telephone call bypass.

Along with him the CIB has also confiscated 120 sim cards, 1 16-port VOIP gateway, 1 16-port GOIP gateway, Exide Battery and 2 TP link router set.

The CIB, so far, has raided 78 places.
