The alliance and the Council organized the banda as a part of their scheduled protests against the preparations for the forthcoming CA election. [break]
The banda is enforced in Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha and Tehrathum districts.
As per the election program, the candidates running in the CA election are scheduled to file their nominations at the District Election Offices today and the banda is likely to disturb this.
With the effect of the banda, public transport is halted and vehicles have stayed off the roads. Market places and educational institutions are closed in these districts.
Police personnel have been mobilized in these districts to maintain security.
