SP supporters sprinkled petrol and torched the truck after police chased away them who had attempted to barricade the East-West Highway. The truck has been completely destroyed. The ill-fated truck loaded with cements and pipes was en route to Jaleshwor from Birgunj.
According to police Inspector Balaram Rai, they have arrested seven banda enforcers including SP Sarlahi Chairman Pramod Sah who were trying to barricading the highway.
Meanwhile, life in various Tarai districts has been affected due to the SP’s banda. Due to the banda, very few vehicles are plying on roads and educational institutions and marketplaces are also shut.
Life affected in Morang, Sunsari
BIRATNAGAR, May 26 (RSS): Normal life in Morang and Sunsari district was affected due to banda called to protest the taking away of Chairman of the Sadbhawana Party, Rajendra Mahato, from his place of hunger strike at Shanti Vatika, in the capital on Friday.
Leader Mahato who is on a hunger strike for the past few days, putting forth 10-point demands was admitted to Bir Hospital for treatment after his condition deteriorated.
All the public vehicles, industries and markets remained closed due to the strike.
However, motorcycles, rickshaws, vehicles of emergency services like ambulances and security vehicles are plying without any disruption while the banda enforcers have been demonstrating in various places in the districts.
Mahato is said to be compelled to go for hunger strike as the government tried to delay announcing the date for forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections.
