Triathlon wins silver for Nepal

SHILLONG, Feb 14: Nepal on Sunday claimed silver medal in team relay of triathlon during 12th South Asian Games (SAG) held at Guwahati, India.

Nepal team consisting of Yamkumari Ghale, Himal Tamata, Rudra Katuwal and Roja KC, the bronze medalist of individual sprint of triathlon held on Saturday, clocked 1 hour 31 minute 35 second for second place finish. The gold winner Indian team finished the event in 1 hour 24 minute 31 second and the bronze medalist Sri Lanka clocked 1 hour 32 minute 5 second.

Triathlon consists of swimming, cycling and running where all the participants need to swim 300 m, bicycle 6.5 km and run 1.5 km. Triathlon is new event in SAG and included for the first time in sub continental event.

Shooting

Nepali team finished fifth in men's 10 m air rifle. Suman Tuladhar, Kuber KC and Ramlal Gurung had represented Nepal in the event. Suman finished with 55 points, Kuber 524 and Ramlal 486 points. With team Nepal earned total of 1563 points the gold medal winning Indian team finished with the score of 1735 points.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka claimed silver and bronze medals respectively. In the individual event Omkar Singh earned 198.8 points for gold while Ullah Khalim of Paksitan secured silver and Jeetendra Bibhuti of India finished with bronze.

Only women's 10 m air pistol is yet to be played in shooting.
