KATHMANDU, October 13: The names of 20 hostages set to be released by Hamas have been made public, but Nepali student Bipin Joshi is not among them. The list, reported by the BBC and Al Jazeera, citing the Palestinian news agency Shehab, includes only Israeli citizens, all confirmed to be alive.

Bipin Joshi, who was abducted from the Alumim kibbutz in southern Israel during the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, remains missing. Hopes had recently risen after the Israeli army recovered a video from Gaza showing Joshi alive. Despite this, his name was not included in the latest list of hostages scheduled for release.

Also absent from the list is Tamir Nimrodi, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The Joshi family has been actively campaigning for his safe return and had previously released a video believed to have been recorded immediately after his abduction — the last confirmed visual evidence of him alive.
