KATHMANDU, April 2: Member of Parliament and chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Harka Sampang, has called for the cancellation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact agreement.
Addressing the first meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday, Sampang demanded that the US-funded assistance project be scrapped. He said he wished to present the demands of the public in a point-wise manner rather than deliver a long personal speech.

Stressing the need to safeguard Nepal’s sovereignty and non-aligned foreign policy, Sampang described the MCC as an unequal agreement with military strategic objectives and called for its repeal. He also urged that parliamentary meetings begin on time and expressed dissatisfaction that fringe parties were given limited time to present their views in the parliament.
