Lumbini Lions Secure Third Win in Nepal Premier League

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Lumbini Lions registered their third victory in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) with a five-wicket win over Biratnagar Kings on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 145 runs, Lumbini reached the total losing five wickets in the process. Opener D’Arcy Short top-scored for Lumbini with 57 runs.

For Biratnagar, captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Subash Bhandari claimed two wickets each, while Basir Ahmad picked up one.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Biratnagar posted 144 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Lokesh Bohra scored the highest for Biratnagar with 35 runs, followed by Basir Ahmad with 28 and Sam Hineslett with 27. Sher Malla took three wickets for Lumbini.

With this win, Lumbini moved to six points and boosted their chances of making it to the playoffs. Biratnagar Kings, which have eight points from six matches, also remai in contention for the playoffs.
