The training covered essential first aid skills required during accidents, disasters, and emergencies, including rescue techniques, bleeding control, and initial treatment for fractures and injuries before transferring victims to a hospital.

Speaking at the closing event, Editors Society Nepal General Secretary Shyamkaji Dotel said the training was organized with the safety of photojournalists in mind, as they are often deployed on the front lines of rallies, demonstrations, disasters, and other high-risk situations.

He said the primary objective was to equip participants with the ability to provide immediate first aid when journalists or their colleagues are injured while on assignment.

“Photojournalists often work in hazardous situations, so the ability to provide immediate first aid in the event of an accident or injury is essential. Such skills can help prevent a victim’s condition from worsening and support safe transportation to a hospital,” Dotel said.

According to the organizers, the training was aimed at enhancing the safety and emergency response capacity of media personnel working in the field.

At the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to participants by Govinda Thapaliya, chairperson of Shivapuri Rural Municipality; Shyamkaji Dotel; Junar Babu Basnet; Navaraj Kafle; and society patron Kiran Vaidya.
